Warrant of Fitness

An NZTA-approved warrant inspection on the Kapiti Coast, done thoroughly the first time. Most cars are in and out the same morning.

Overview

A Warrant of Fitness is the legal safety check that keeps your vehicle on the road, and it's a job we do every single working day. Our inspectors work straight off the official NZTA checklist — lights, tyres, brakes, steering, suspension, body integrity, glass, seatbelts, exhaust and emissions — so nothing slips through and you're not surprised by a fail at the next inspection.

We aim to have most warrants completed inside 45 minutes. There's a comfortable lounge, free coffee and Wi-Fi, so a lot of customers happily wait while we do it. If the car fails, we'll tell you exactly why, what it'll cost to put right, and (where we can) book the repair in straight away.

What we cover

  • Full NZTA warrant inspection to current standards
  • Detailed written report on any items that need attention
  • Free brake check and tyre tread assessment included
  • Re-inspection within 28 days at no extra charge if work was done
  • Honest advice on what's urgent vs what can wait

When do you need a WOF?

  • Annually for cars first registered after 1 Jan 2000
  • Every 6 months for older vehicles
  • Before selling or transferring ownership
  • If your WOF label is approaching expiry — don't risk a fine

Our approach

Book a time online, by phone or just drop in if we're not flat out. The car goes onto the hoist, gets inspected to the NZTA standard, and you'll have a clear answer — pass or fail with a written list — before you finish your coffee.

Why us, here in Kapiti

We're a Kapiti workshop run by qualified mechanics, not a quick-WOF tyre shop. That means if something fails, we can usually fix it on the spot — and there's a network warranty on the work afterwards.
